vikhyātaṃ tu tadā loke pāpaghnaṃ pāṇḍunandana | aṣṭamyāṃ ca caturdaśyāmubhau pakṣau ca bhaktitaḥ | upoṣya śūlinaścāgre rātrau kurvīta jāgaram
Deductive (Revā Khaṇḍa narrator speaking to a Pāṇḍava-descendant/royal listener)
Tirtha: Karoḍī-tīrtha
Type: ghat
Listener: Pāṇḍunandana
Scene: Pilgrims at the Narmadā ghat on Aṣṭamī/Caturdaśī: lamps flicker through the night as devotees keep vigil before Śiva Śūlin, chanting and listening to sacred stories; dawn approaches with calm purity.
Devotional discipline—fasting and vigil—performed at a sacred site becomes a potent means for cleansing sin.
The same sin-destroying Karoḍī Tīrtha within the Revā/Narmadā region.
Fasting (upoṣa) and night vigil (jāgaraṇa) before Śiva on Aṣṭamī and Caturdaśī in both lunar fortnights.
