तथात्र चतुर्लक्षं संक्षेपेण निवेशितम् । पुराणानि दशाष्टौ च साम्प्रतं तदिहोच्यते । नामतस्तानि वक्ष्यामि शृणु त्वमृषिसत्तम
tathātra caturlakṣaṃ saṃkṣepeṇa niveśitam | purāṇāni daśāṣṭau ca sāmprataṃ tadihocyate | nāmatastāni vakṣyāmi śṛṇu tvamṛṣisattama
અહીં સંક્ષેપરૂપે ચાર લાખ (શ્લોક-પરિમાણ) સ્થાપિત કરાયું છે. વર્તમાનમાં અહીં અષ્ટાદશ પુરાણોનું ઉપદેશ થાય છે. હવે હું તેમના નામ કહું છું—હે ઋષિશ્રેષ્ઠ, તું સાંભળ.
