Dakṣa’s Appeal to Viṣṇu and the Teaching on Disrespect to Śiva
iti śrīśivamahāpurāṇe dvitīyāyāṃ rudrasaṃhitāyāṃ dvitīye satīkhaṃḍe satyupākhyāne viṣṇuvākyavarṇanaṃ nāma paṃcatriṃśo'dhyāyaḥ
Sūta Gosvāmin (traditional Purāṇic colophon style, concluding the chapter narration to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Vīrabhadra
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter; spiritually, it situates the teaching within the Satī narrative and frames Viṣṇu’s counsel as part of Śiva-centric Purāṇic instruction leading the listener toward dharma and devotion to Pati (Śiva).
While it does not describe a ritual directly, it anchors the discourse inside the Rudra Saṃhitā’s Satī Khaṇḍa, where devotion to Saguna Śiva (the personal Lord) is taught through narrative—preparing the devotee for bhakti-oriented worship such as Liṅga-pūjā.
No specific practice is prescribed in this colophon; as a takeaway, the listener is encouraged to continue the śravaṇa (devotional listening) of Śiva Purāṇa with bhakti, which traditionally supports japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and regular Śiva-pūjā.
