Description of the Battle between Tāraka and Kumāra
abhavanprekṣakāssarve devā gaṃdharvakinnarāḥ | ūcuḥ parasparaṃ tatra kosminyuddhe vijeṣyate

The verse highlights the limited perspective of even celestial beings when they focus on outward victory. From a Shaiva lens, true sovereignty belongs to Pati (Shiva), and events unfold under divine order; the seeker is guided toward steadiness and witness-consciousness rather than anxiety over outcomes.
As the devas look for a winner in a visible conflict, the text implicitly points to Saguna Shiva as the master of cosmic play (līlā) and to the Linga as the stable symbol of the transcendent Lord beyond changing battle-results. Devotion shifts attention from uncertainty to Shiva’s abiding presence.
Adopt sākṣī-bhāva in japa: repeat the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) while observing thoughts of fear or excitement about “winning,” letting them pass. As a simple Shaiva observance, apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and remember Shiva as the inner ruler beyond dualities.
