इक्ष्वाकोऽस्तु नरव्याघ्र पुत्र: परमधार्मिक:।।1.47.11।।

अलम्बुषायामुत्पन्नो विशाल इति विश्रुत:।

तेन चासीदिह स्थाने विशालेति पुरी कृता।।1.47.12।।

ikṣvāko ’stu nara-vyāghra putraḥ parama-dhārmikaḥ | alambuṣāyām utpanno viśāla iti viśrutaḥ | tena cāsīd iha sthāne viśāleti purī kṛtā || 1.47.11–12 ||

હે નરવ્યાઘ્ર, ઇક્ષ્વાકુનો પરમ ધાર્મિક પુત્ર અલંબુષાથી જન્મેલો ‘વિશાલ’ નામે પ્રસિદ્ધ હતો; તેણે જ આ સ્થાને ‘વિશાલા’ નામની નગરી સ્થાપી.
