Origin of Jaleśvara Tīrtha and the Devas’ Appeal to Śiva against Bāṇa/Tripura
Nārada’s Mission
nārada uvāca | anyasmai dīyatāṃ bhadre kṣīṇavṛtiśca yo dvijaḥ | vayaṃ tu śīlasaṃpannā bhaktistu kriyate mayā
Nārada
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
Type: city
Sandhi Resolution Notes:
The verse prioritizes giving to a truly needy and deserving brāhmaṇa—someone whose livelihood has declined—rather than accepting or diverting gifts toward oneself.
Nārada frames devotion as his own primary ‘practice’ or offering, implying inner spiritual discipline and humility rather than personal gain from material gifts.
Assess need and worthiness when giving: direct support to those in hardship, and cultivate the attitude that spiritual merit is rooted in character and devotion, not accumulation.
