The Pañcarātra Vow (Haripañcaka Vrata): Observance from Śukla Ekādaśī to Pūrṇimā
एकादश्यां निराहारो भवेत्पूर्वमिव द्विज । द्वादश्यां पञ्चगव्यं च प्राशयेत्सुसमाहितः ॥ १९ ॥
ekādaśyāṃ nirāhāro bhavetpūrvamiva dvija | dvādaśyāṃ pañcagavyaṃ ca prāśayetsusamāhitaḥ || 19 ||
હે દ્વિજ! એકાદશીએ પૂર્વવત્ નિરાહાર રહેવું; અને દ્વાદશીએ સુસમાહિત ચિત્તે પંચગવ્યનું પણ પ્રાશન કરવું।
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada in vrata-vidhi context)
Vrata: Ekādaśī (implied as part of the vrata cycle)
Primary Rasa: tapas (austerity)
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It frames Ekādaśī as a disciplined fast (nirāhāra) and Dvādaśī as a mindful, purified resumption—showing that vrata is both restraint and sanctified restoration.
By prescribing regulated fasting and conscious conduct, it supports Viṣṇu-bhakti through bodily restraint, mental steadiness (susamāhita), and ritual purity aligned with devotional observance.
Kalpa-oriented ritual procedure is implied: the timing of observance across Ekādaśī–Dvādaśī and the use of purification substances (pañcagavya) as part of vrata-vidhi.
