Adhyaya 52 — The Manifestation of Nilalohita (Rudra) and the Allocation of His Names, Abodes, Consorts, and Lineages
pūrvajanmani so 'gastyaḥ smṛtaḥ svāyambhuve 'ntare | kardamaś cārvavīraś ca sahiṣṇuś ca suta-trayam ||
Purāṇic genealogy often interlocks with karma and continuity across lives. The identification of a figure as Agastya in a prior birth emphasizes that spiritual stature is accumulated and recognized across cosmic cycles.
Manvantara (the reign-period of a Manu) and Vaṃśa (genealogy) are both directly invoked by naming Svāyambhuva and listing descendants.
The Svāyambhuva Manvantara is archetypally 'primordial ordering.' Linking a sage to that era symbolically roots him in the first establishment of dharma and cosmic structure.
