अविलम्बमनायस्तमद्रुतं धीरमूर्जितम् । असंसक्ताक्षरपदं स्वरभावसमन्वितम्
avilambam anāyastam adrutaṃ dhīram ūrjitam | asaṃsaktākṣarapadaṃ svarabhāvasamanvitam ||
કથાવાચન ન તો બહુ અટકાટક કરીને કરવું, ન તો અતિ ઝડપથી. તે સહજ, ધીર અને ઓજસ્વી ગતિથી થવું જોઈએ; અક્ષર અને પદ એકબીજામાં ગૂંથાઈ ન જાય તેમ સ્પષ્ટ ઉચ્ચાર થવો જોઈએ; અને સ્વર તથા ભાવનો યોગ્ય મેળ હોવો જોઈએ— ત્યારે અર્થ મીઠાશથી પ્રગટ થાય છે.
