इस प्रकार श्रीमह्याभारत अनुशासनपर्वके अन्तर्गत दानधर्मपर्वमें श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मणोंकी प्रशंशाविषयक आठवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ

Transliteration

anenaivodāharantīmam itihāsaṁ purātanam | śṛgālasya ca saṁvādaṁ vānarasya ca bhārata || bhārata! asmin viṣaye vijñāḥ puruṣāḥ śṛgāla-vānara-saṁvāda-rūpaṁ prācīnam itihāsam udāharanti |

Translation

ભીષ્મ બોલ્યા— હે ભારત! આ જ સંદર્ભમાં વિદ્વાનો એક પ્રાચીન ઇતિહાસનું ઉદાહરણ આપે છે— શૃગાળ અને વાનરનો સંવાદ. આ વિષયને સ્પષ્ટ કરવા તેઓ તે પુરાતન કથા તેમના વાર્તાલાપરૂપે કહે છે.
