आवर्तनो निवृत्तात्मा संवृत: सम्प्रमर्दन: । अहःसंवर्तको वल्लिरनिलो धरणीधर:
āvartano nivṛttātmā saṁvṛtaḥ sampramardanaḥ | ahaḥsaṁvartako vahnir anilo dharaṇīdharaḥ ||
ભીષ્મે કહ્યું—તે આવર્તન છે, જે સંસારચક્રને ચલાવે છે; છતાં નિવૃતાત્મા છે, જે પોતે બંધનથી સદા મુક્ત છે। તે સંવૃત છે, પોતાની યોગમાયાથી ઢંકાયેલ; અને સંપ్రమર્દન છે, જે રુદ્ર આદિ ઉગ્ર રૂપોથી સર્વનું દમન કરે છે। તે અહઃસંવર્તક છે, સૂર્યરૂપે દિવસનો પ્રવર્તક; વહ્નિ છે, જે હવિ વહન કરે છે; અનિલ છે, જે પ્રાણરૂપ વાયુ છે; અને ધરણીધર છે, જે વરાહ અને શેષરૂપે પૃથ્વીને ધારણ કરે છે।
