Ādi-parva Adhyāya 132 — Duryodhana’s Instructions to Purocana at Vāraṇāvata

पश्यैन॑ त॑ ट्रुमाग्रस्थं भासं नरवरात्मज । पश्यामीत्येवमाचार्य प्रत्युवाच युधिष्ठिर:,“राजकुमार! वृक्षकी शिखापर बैठे हुए इस गीधको देखो।” तब युधिष्ठिरने आचार्यको उत्तर दिया--“भगवन्! मैं देख रहा हूँ
paśyainaṃ taṃ drumāgrasthaṃ bhāsaṃ naravarātmaja | paśyāmīty evam ācārya pratyuvāca yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ||
દ્રોણે કહ્યું—“રાજકુમાર! વૃક્ષની ટોચ પર બેઠેલા આ ગીધને જો.” ત્યારે યુધિષ્ઠિરે આચાર્યને ઉત્તર આપ્યો—“ભગવન્, હું જોઈ રહ્યો છું.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined perception and truthful speech: a student should report only what is directly seen, cultivating precision and integrity—qualities essential for ethical conduct and effective training.
The teacher instructs the prince to look at a vulture perched atop a tree; Yudhiṣṭhira responds simply that he sees it, reflecting a training moment focused on attention and accurate response.
