Sukta 16
अभि श्यावं न कृशनेभिरश्वं नक्षत्रेभिः पितरो द्यामपिंशन्। रात्र्यां तमो अदधुर्ज्योतिरहन् बृहस्पतिर्भिनदद्रिं विदद् गाः
abhí śyāváṃ ná kṛ́śanebhir áśvaṃ nákṣatrebhíḥ pitáro dyā́m apiṃśan | rā́tryāṃ támo ádadhuḥ jyótiḥ áhan bṛ́haspátir bhínad ádriṃ vídad gā́ḥ ||
As one decks a dark horse with glittering trappings, so with the stars the Fathers painted the sky. In night they set the darkness, and in day the light: Bṛhaspati clave the rock and found the cows.
જેમ કોઈ શ્યામ અશ્વને ચમકતા શણગારોથી સજાવે તેમ પિતૃઓએ નક્ષત્રોથી દ્યૌ (આકાશ)ને રંગ્યું. રાત્રિમાં તેમણે તમસ્ (અંધકાર) સ્થાપ્યું અને દિવસે જ્યોતિ (પ્રકાશ). બૃહસ્પતિએ અદ્રિ (શિલા/પર્વત)ને ભેદી ગાયો શોધી કાઢી.
