Concept: Epistemic division of labor: different disciplines adjudicate different normative and practical binaries (hita/ahita, dharma/adharma, artha/anartha, naya/anaya).

Application: Create a decision matrix in governance: route questions of ethics to trayī/dharma experts, economic feasibility to vārtā, policy enforcement to daṇḍanīti, and overall benefit-harm analysis to ānvīkṣikī.

FAQs

It maps four applied disciplines—Ānvīkṣikī (critical reasoning), Trayī (Vedic authority), Vārtā (economics), and Daṇḍanīti (governance)—to their core decision-criteria: beneficial vs. harmful, dharma vs. adharma, profit vs. loss, and right vs. wrong policy.

By classifying knowledge into philosophy, scripture, economy, and political jurisprudence, it shows the Agni Purāṇa’s scope beyond ritual—covering ethics, livelihood sciences, and state administration as an integrated curriculum.

It frames righteous living as informed discernment: dharma is grounded in Vedic norms, while worldly action (earning and rule) must be guided by right reasoning and just governance to avoid adharma and its karmic consequences.
