Related Themes: Agni Purana muhurta/jyotiṣa materials (tithi, karaṇa, yoga-based classifications)
It teaches muhurta-selection by tithi condition: perform śānti-type pacificatory rites when the tithi is ‘udita’ (in its operative rising phase), and perform vaśya-type attraction/subjugation rites when the tithi is ‘bhramita’ (shifted/turned condition).
It exemplifies the Purana’s practical Jyotiṣa layer—linking calendrical astronomy (tithi behavior across bright/dark fortnights) to applied ritual technology (śānti, vaśya, and allied operations), showing the text’s coverage beyond mythology into technical scheduling rules.
By aligning rites with the proper tithi-state, the practitioner is said to enhance efficacy and reduce ritual obstacles—supporting purification, pacification of afflictions, and the intended karmic outcome of the chosen rite.
