આચમન કર્યા પછી જળથી પરિમાર્જન (છાંટીને/પુંછીને શુદ્ધિ) કરવું—‘હિરણ્યવર્ણાઃ…’થી આરંભ થતી ત્રણ ઋચાઓ તથા ‘શન્નો દેવી…’ મંત્ર વડે પણ।
