Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"List","entry_title":"Lotus-maṇḍala Devatā-nyāsa: Brahmā–Śaṅkara–Soma–Āditya–Aśvinau–Revanta–Uccaiḥśravas–Dikpāla","lookup_keywords":["nyāsa","dala","dikpāla","revanta","uccaiḥśravas"],"quick_summary":"Install a set of deities and guardians on the lotus petals/segments so the maṇḍala becomes a complete cosmological seat for the rite."}

Concept: Microcosmic mapping: the cosmos (devas, directions, luminaries) is installed into the ritual diagram to stabilize attention and invoke comprehensive protection.

Application: When drawing a lotus-maṇḍala, assign deities systematically to petals to avoid omissions and maintain ritual completeness.

Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi / Devata-nyasa and Mandala-archana (Deity placement in petals/sections)

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

It teaches devatā-nyāsa/āvaraṇa-archana: the practical rule of invoking specific deities (Brahmā, Śiva, Sun, Moon, Aśvins, etc.) and the dikpālas onto the lotus-petals/sections of a ritual mandala.

By cataloging a precise deity-set and their placement within a mandala, it preserves applied ritual technology (diagram-based worship), integrating cosmology (dikpālas), solar-lunar divinities, and auxiliary deities into a repeatable liturgical method.

Correct placement and invocation are held to complete the mandala’s protective and sanctifying field, aligning the worshipper with cosmic order (directions, luminaries, and guardians) and thereby supporting purity, protection, and ritual merit.
