It gives practical Ayurvedic pharmaceutics: named compound formulations (with trikaṭu, triphalā, kuṣṭha, paṭola, kaṭukā, guḍūcī) and the recommended anupāna/vehicle for guggulu—warm or cool water processed with guḍūcī and triphalā—aimed at vāta-śoṇita and kapha-vāta disorders.
Alongside theology and ritual, the Agni Purana catalogs applied sciences; here it preserves clinical-style Ayurvedic recipes, ingredient lists, and administration guidance (anupāna), demonstrating the text’s wide coverage of health, pharmacology, and therapeutics.
While primarily medical, the Purāṇic framing treats health-preserving knowledge as dharmic support for sādhana: restoring balance of doṣas (vāta/kapha) and purifying afflicted blood helps sustain ritual duty, study, and disciplined living.
