Related Themes: Agni Purana 282 (agni/āmadoṣa-oriented remedies)
It teaches an Ayurvedic therapeutic formulation—powder of śuṇṭhī (dry ginger), sīvarcalā (black salt), and hiṅgu (asafoetida), taken with ginger-juice/decoction and ghṛta (ghee)—to relieve pain/colic and treat baddhāgni (suppressed digestion).
Alongside theology and ritual, the Agni Purana preserves practical medical knowledge: concise, recipe-like instructions for managing digestive pathology (agni impairment), showing its role as a compendium of applied sciences (Ayurveda) within a Purāṇic framework.
By restoring agni (digestive fire), the instruction supports bodily balance necessary for daily dharma—clean conduct, steadiness in worship, and capacity for ritual life—framing health as an aid to disciplined spiritual practice.
