Related Themes: Agni Purana 31 (doṣa-based disease framing)
Ayurvedic diagnostic knowledge: diseases are categorized by their causative doṣa—vāta, pitta, kapha—or by combined doṣic disturbance (sānnipātika/tridoṣaja), which guides treatment selection.
It shows the Agni Purana functioning as a compendium beyond mythology by preserving Ayurvedic nosology (roga-bheda) and tridoṣa pathology—core medical theory used for systematic diagnosis and therapy.
By promoting correct understanding and alleviation of illness through dharmic knowledge (āyurveda as upaveda), the verse supports preservation of life and capacity for righteous conduct (dharma), a key puruṣārtha-oriented aim in Purāṇic teaching.
