ईश्वर उवाच । यस्त्वया पृछ्यते भद्रे योगः पाशुपतो महान् । तेषां चैव प्रभावो यस्तथा लिंगस्य सुव्रते

īśvara uvāca | yastvayā pṛchyate bhadre yogaḥ pāśupato mahān | teṣāṃ caiva prabhāvo yastathā liṃgasya suvrate

Īśvara dit : «Ô toi l’auspicieuse, la grande discipline pāśupata que tu demandes—ainsi que la puissance de ces dévots, et la majesté de ce Liṅga—je l’exposerai, ô toi aux vœux nobles.»
