प्रेता ऊचुः । शृणु पुत्र प्रवक्ष्यामः प्रेतयोनेस्तु कारणम् । वासरं वासुदेवस्य सदा विद्धं कृतं पुरा
pretā ūcuḥ | śṛṇu putra pravakṣyāmaḥ pretayonestu kāraṇam | vāsaraṃ vāsudevasya sadā viddhaṃ kṛtaṃ purā
Les pretas dirent : «Écoute, cher fils ; nous t’expliquerons la cause de notre naissance en tant que pretas. Jadis, nous avons commis à maintes reprises la faute dite “viddha”, en profanant le jour sacré de Vāsudeva.»
