पूर्वं कृतयुगस्यांते बलिना च पुरंदरः । निर्जित्य भ्रंशितः स्थानात्तदर्थं मधुसूदनः
pūrvaṃ kṛtayugasyāṃte balinā ca puraṃdaraḥ | nirjitya bhraṃśitaḥ sthānāttadarthaṃ madhusūdanaḥ
Autrefois, à la fin du Kṛta Yuga, Indra, le briseur de citadelles, fut vaincu par Bali et déchu de sa dignité ; pour cette raison Madhusūdana intervint afin de rétablir l’ordre.
