एवं द्वादशवर्षाणि यजतस्तस्य भूपतेः । व्यतीतानि न संप्राप्तमभीष्टं मनसः फलम्

evaṃ dvādaśavarṣāṇi yajatastasya bhūpateḥ | vyatītāni na saṃprāptamabhīṣṭaṃ manasaḥ phalam

Ainsi, bien que ce roi eût accompli des sacrifices durant douze années, lorsque ce temps fut écoulé il n’obtint pas le fruit désiré par l’élan de son cœur.
