परावसुरुवाच । न वयस्या नर्मकालो विषमे मम संस्थिते । ममोपरि यदि स्नेहो वालमित्रत्वसंभवः । तदानीय द्विजानन्यान्वदध्वं निष्कृतिं मम

parāvasuruvāca | na vayasyā narmakālo viṣame mama saṃsthite | mamopari yadi sneho vālamitratvasaṃbhavaḥ | tadānīya dvijānanyānvadadhvaṃ niṣkṛtiṃ mama

Parāvasu dit : «Amis, ce n’est pas l’heure des plaisanteries, car je me tiens dans une détresse profonde. Si vous avez pour moi une affection véritable, née de notre amitié d’enfance, alors amenez d’autres brāhmaṇas et dites-moi le prāyaścitta, le juste rite d’expiation, pour que je sois délivré.»
