Skanda Purana — Nagara Khanda, Shloka 104

कुलशीलविहीनानामन्येषामपि पाप्मनाम् । मत्वा कलियुगं घोरं परदारसुरंजितम् । तत्र शुद्धिस्ततः सर्वैः कृता विप्रैश्च वाचिका

kulaśīlavihīnānāmanyeṣāmapi pāpmanām | matvā kaliyugaṃ ghoraṃ paradārasuraṃjitam | tatra śuddhistataḥ sarvaiḥ kṛtā vipraiśca vācikā

Considérant l'âge terrible de Kali — rempli du « démon » de l'adultère — et voyant les gens dépourvus de discipline familiale et de bonne conduite, ainsi que d'autres pécheurs, la purification y fut donc établie par tous, ainsi qu'une purification verbale par les brāhmaṇas.
