सविस्मयोऽभूदथ तद्विदित्वा उद्दालको ज्ञानवतां वरिष्ठः । शिवप्रभावं मनसा विचिंत्य ज्ञानात्परं बोधमवाप शांतः

savismayo'bhūdatha tadviditvā uddālako jñānavatāṃ variṣṭhaḥ | śivaprabhāvaṃ manasā viciṃtya jñānātparaṃ bodhamavāpa śāṃtaḥ

L’ayant compris, Uddālaka —le plus éminent des sages— fut rempli d’émerveillement. Méditant en son cœur la majesté de Śiva, il atteignit une réalisation au-delà du simple savoir et devint paisible.
