ऋषय ऊचुः । पार्वत्याधिकृतं सर्वं मदनानयनं प्रति । संबरेण हृतातन्वी मदनस्य प्रिया सती । अत ऊर्ध्वं तदा सूत किं जातं तत्र वर्ण्यताम्

ṛṣaya ūcuḥ | pārvatyādhikṛtaṃ sarvaṃ madanānayanaṃ prati | saṃbareṇa hṛtātanvī madanasya priyā satī | ata ūrdhvaṃ tadā sūta kiṃ jātaṃ tatra varṇyatām

Les sages dirent : «Tout ce que Pārvatī entreprit pour faire venir Madana a été relaté. L’aimée vertueuse et svelte de Madana fut enlevée par Śaṃbara. Que se passa-t-il ensuite, ô Sūta ? Veuille le décrire».
