Tirtha: Guptakṣetra-associated shrine of Sūryavarcā/Barbarīka
Type: ghat
Listener: Brāhmaṇas/audience of the narration
Scene: Brahmins/devotees worship the kind-hearted Yakṣa-king with the hymn; a hundred lamps blaze before the shrine, and pūrikā offerings are arranged on leaf-plates; the calendar tithis are indicated by moon-phase motifs.
Timed devotion—worship aligned with sacred lunar days—intensifies merit and draws swift divine favor.
The rite belongs to the chapter’s Guptakṣetra-Barbarīka mahatmya context, though the verse itself focuses on dates and offerings.
Worship on Śrāvaṇa Amāvāsyā (Darśa) and on Vaiśākha Kṛṣṇa Trayodaśī, with stotra-recitation, 100 lamps, and pūrikā offerings.
