चिराय यत्कृतं सौम्य चिरमस्मिन् दुःखितः । गाथाश्चाप्यब्रवीद्विद्वान्गौतमो मुनिसत्तमः
cirāya yatkṛtaṃ saumya ciramasmin duḥkhitaḥ | gāthāścāpyabravīdvidvāngautamo munisattamaḥ
« Doux enfant, parce que l’acte fut différé, je suis demeuré longtemps dans la peine. » Ainsi le sage Gautama, le meilleur des munis, prononça lui aussi des stances (gāthās).
