लिहंतः सृक्किणीं देवा वासुदेवादयस्तदा । दृष्ट्वा तत्कर्म देवानां तारकोऽतुलविक्रमः
lihaṃtaḥ sṛkkiṇīṃ devā vāsudevādayastadā | dṛṣṭvā tatkarma devānāṃ tārako'tulavikramaḥ

Lomaharṣaṇa (Sūta), narrating to the sages
Scene: Devas led by Vāsudeva and others lick their lips in fierce anticipation, eyes fixed on the battlefield; across, Tāraka—mighty and unshaken—also watches, gauging the devas’ prowess.
Great deeds intensify both hope among the righteous and resistance among the powerful wicked—dharma’s contest becomes sharper.
