Tirtha: Maṅgalāgaurī-vrata (concluding annadāna-dakṣiṇā-homa)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śaunaka and sages
Scene: A concluding feast is served on banana leaves; the host offers dakṣiṇā respectfully. Nearby, a small homa-kuṇḍa burns steadily as a priest recites the ‘Jātavedasa…’ ṛk, offering ghee into the fire.
Vrata-fruit is strengthened by yajña (homa) and dāna—sharing sacred food and giving dakṣiṇā in a spirit of reverence.
The instruction belongs to the Kāśī Khaṇḍa’s Maṅgalāgaurī-vrata teaching, a hallmark of Kāśī’s ritual holiness.
Feeding with excellent food, giving dakṣiṇā, and performing homa using the “Jātavedasa…” Vedic verse.
