योध्यापयेदेकदेशं श्रुतेरंगान्यथापि वा । वृत्त्यर्थं स उपाध्यायो विद्वद्भिः परिगीयते

yodhyāpayedekadeśaṃ śruteraṃgānyathāpi vā | vṛttyarthaṃ sa upādhyāyo vidvadbhiḥ parigīyate

Celui qui n’enseigne qu’une portion de la Śruti, ou bien les membres auxiliaires du Veda, pour gagner sa vie, est loué par les savants comme upādhyāya.
