Tirtha: Kāśī (ethical mahatmya within the kṣetra)
Type: kshetra
Scene: A revered ascetic (yati) with staff and waterpot bows to an elderly mother; the father also offers respectful salutation; the scene is set near a Kāśī courtyard with distant temple spires.
Renunciation does not cancel gratitude; reverence to one’s mother remains obligatory even for the spiritually exalted.
No site; the verse glorifies the ‘living tīrtha’ principle—motherhood as sacred.
Vandanā (reverential honoring) of the mother, emphasized as a deliberate practice (prayatnataḥ).
