Narrator (Purāṇic narration praising the tīrtha)
Tirtha: Setu-tīrtha
Type: kshetra
Scene: Pilgrims at Setu perform snāna; a luminous, benevolent Śiva is envisioned as especially pleased; the verse contrasts simple tīrtha-contact with complex rites.
Pilgrimage to a divinely charged tīrtha can swiftly purify; inner and outer cleansing culminate in Śiva’s grace.
Setu/Setubandha tīrtha (contextually), praised as a place where sins are eradicated and Śiva is especially pleased.
The verse contrasts general practices (vrata, dāna, tapa, homa) with the superior efficacy of the Setu tīrtha’s merit (expanded explicitly in the next verse as bathing).
