Transliteration

viprā vedavidaḥ śāṃtāḥ kṛtinaḥ śaṃsitavratāḥ | jñānayajñataponiṣṭhāḥ śivabhaktiparāyaṇāḥ

Translation

C’étaient des brāhmaṇas—connaisseurs des Veda, l’esprit paisible, accomplis et renommés pour leurs vœux—fermement établis dans la connaissance, le yajña et l’austérité, et totalement voués à la Śiva-bhakti.
