Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya
Tirtha: Somanātha (Prabhāsa-kṣetra)
Type: kshetra
Scene: Sage Mārkaṇḍeya instructs a listener on the ‘power of Somanātha’, indicating auspicious lunar days (Aṣṭamī/Caturdaśī) and Sunday as a potent time-window; the sea-coast kṣetra atmosphere is implied.
Sthala-māhātmya becomes practical through vrata-vidhi—devotion is strengthened by clear timing and disciplined observance.
Somanātha, whose “prabhāva” is now linked to a concrete religious procedure.
A vrata procedure to be undertaken on Aṣṭamī or Caturdaśī, with emphasis on performance on Ravivāra (Sunday).
