ईश्वर उवाच । अहं ते वरदस्तात गौरी माता पिता ह्यहम् । वरं वृणीष्व यच्चेष्टं त्रिषु लोकेषु दुर्लभम्
īśvara uvāca | ahaṃ te varadastāta gaurī mātā pitā hyaham | varaṃ vṛṇīṣva yacceṣṭaṃ triṣu lokeṣu durlabham
Īśvara dit : « Mon cher fils, je suis pour toi le dispensateur des grâces ; et Gaurī est ta mère — et, en vérité, je suis ton père. Choisis une grâce, tout ce que tu désires, fût-ce chose rare à obtenir dans les trois mondes ».
