Skanda Purana — Avanti Khanda, Shloka 44

केचिद्धूमकमश्नन्ति तपस्युग्रे व्यवस्थिताः । आत्मयज्ञरताः केचिदपरे भक्तिभागिनः

keciddhūmakamaśnanti tapasyugre vyavasthitāḥ | ātmayajñaratāḥ kecidapare bhaktibhāginaḥ

Certains, établis dans une tapas farouche, se nourrissent de ce qu’on nomme « nourriture de fumée ». D’autres se réjouissent du yajña intérieur, l’offrande de soi; d’autres encore ont part à la dévotion, par la bhakti.
