Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: Śiva as Viśvayogin directs the sages toward Kumāraśikhara (southern peak of Meru), establishing a sacred geography where subsequent tīrtha descriptions and encounters unfold.
Significance: Frames pilgrimage as obedience to divine injunction (ājñā) and movement toward a charged sacred locus; ‘being sent by the Lord’ itself is a mark of grace and eligibility.
The verse highlights Śiva as Viśva-yogin—the universal Lord who guides seekers—showing that swift obedience to divine instruction and movement toward sacred space supports inner purification and yogic readiness for higher teaching.
Though the verse describes travel, it reflects Saguna Śiva’s active grace: the Lord gives concrete directions to devotees. Such guidance culminates in sacred encounters where Linga-worship and disciplined devotion become means to experience the Pati (Śiva) who leads souls beyond bondage.
The takeaway is disciplined, prompt sādhana: follow the guru-like command of Śiva, maintain yogic restraint on the journey, and support practice with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and steady contemplation of Śiva as the inner guide.
