It teaches that illumination—consciousness and divine tejas—does not remain confined; like a lamp-flame, Shiva’s light pervades and reveals the whole world, pointing the seeker toward the all-pervading Pati (Lord Shiva) as the ground of knowing.
The Linga is worshipped as the visible focus of the invisible, all-pervading light (tejas). Concentrating on Saguna Shiva in the Linga trains the mind to recognize that the same radiance is not limited to the shrine but pervades all beings and worlds.
Meditate on Shiva as jyoti (inner light) while japa of the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” optionally before a lamp or the Linga, contemplating that the one radiance pervades the entire jagat and dispels inner darkness (avidyā).
