Après avoir établi un liṅga de substitution, il y déposa la sève laiteuse issue d’un arbre. Constatant qu’elle s’y tenait fermement, il la laissa et établit ainsi le liṅga sur la pierre sacrée Brahma-śilā.

Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse describes procedural establishment (pratiṣṭhā) of a worship-liṅga on a sanctified base (brahma-śilā), emphasizing correct ritual substitution (pratiliṅga) and stabilization before final placement.
It highlights that devotion requires a proper support (ādhāra) for worship: the liṅga is established on a sanctified base (Brahma-śilā), indicating disciplined, stabilized worship that leads the bound soul (paśu) toward Śiva (Pati).
The verse shows practical liṅga-upāsanā: using a substitute liṅga and confirming the steadiness of the offering before final placement. In Shaiva Siddhanta, such saguna worship of the liṅga purifies the mind and becomes a doorway to realizing Śiva beyond form.
It suggests careful, methodical liṅga-pratiṣṭhā and offering (upacāra) with attention to stability and sanctity of the pedestal; inwardly, it implies making one’s devotion steady before fixing the mind on Śiva through mantra-japa (e.g., the Panchākṣarī).
