Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Not a jyotirliṅga narrative; it is a mantra-ritual instruction involving āvaraṇa-pūjā and bīja worship with Śakti, aligning with tantricized Śaiva ritual manuals rather than a specific site legend.
Significance: Encourages mantra-centered worship (pañcākṣarī) often practiced at Śiva temples; āvaraṇa-pūjā framing supports the idea of complete, layered worship for siddhi and śiva-anugraha.
Type: panchakshara
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: liberating
Offering: dhupa
It teaches that the Pañcākṣarī is not merely a sound but a living power (bīja) endowed with five kalās; worship begins by honoring Shiva’s mantra-power together with Śakti, affirming Shaiva Siddhanta’s view of Pati revealed through His inseparable divine energy.
The āvaraṇa method implies structured, Saguna worship—approaching the Linga through ordered enclosures—where mantra (bīja) and Śakti are invoked first to awaken the presence of Shiva in the ritual field before deeper contemplations of His transcendence.
It points to āvaraṇa-pūjā using the Pañcākṣarī’s concluding bīja with contemplation of five kalās, performed with Śakti-bhāva (recognizing divine power), as a mantra-based discipline supporting japa, nyāsa, and focused meditation on Shiva.
