Role: teaching
It affirms that the Vedas, together with Itihāsa–Purāṇa and Dharmaśāstra, form a coherent foundation for dharma and right understanding—supporting the seeker’s progress toward Shiva as Pati (the Supreme Lord) and final liberation.
By grounding practice in Vedic and dharma-based authority, it implies that Saguna Shiva worship—such as Linga-pūjā performed with purity, mantra, and prescribed conduct—stands in continuity with śāstra, not outside it.
The verse points to śāstra-guided sādhana: learning and applying Vedic disciplines, maintaining dharmic conduct, and integrating mantra-japa (notably the Panchākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with correct ritual observance.
