Upamanyu
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Sthala Purana: Not a site-specific jyotirliṅga passage; it introduces a stotra taught as a structured upāsanā (pañcāvaraṇa-mārga) to complete religious practice.
Significance: Frames the hymn as a complete sādhana leading to the ‘completion’ (samāpti) of puṇya-karmas—i.e., maturation of practice through right method and meaning.
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It introduces a Shaiva hymn taught as a disciplined method (the “five coverings” approach) that purifies the seeker and brings spiritual practice to fruition under the guidance of Yogīśvara Śiva.
By calling the teaching “of Yogīśvara,” the verse frames devotion as worship of Śiva in an accessible, practice-oriented form—typical of Saguna upāsanā—through stotra and structured worship that culminates in inner completion.
The verse points to stotra-japa and a stepwise yogic-worship method (pañcāvaraṇa-mārga), implying disciplined observance—often paired in this tradition with mantra, purity, and focused meditation on Śiva as the Lord of Yoga.
