Taxonomy of Kāmya (Desire-Motivated) Śaiva Rites

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It teaches that the Supreme Lord (Pati) is one, even when praised by different divine names like “Śiva” and “Maheśvara,” and therefore sincere Shaiva paths are fundamentally unified in their aim: devotion leading toward liberation.
Whether one worships the Lord as Śiva or Maheśvara—especially through the Śiva-liṅga as the accessible Saguna focus—the object of worship remains the same Supreme Reality; differences are chiefly of designation and tradition, not of the Lord’s essence.
A practical takeaway is single-pointed japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a non-sectarian understanding that all authentic names and forms of Śiva invoke the same Lord, supporting steadiness in bhakti and meditation.
