It teaches that outer purity—washing, sprinkling, and careful preparation—supports inner purity, so the devotee approaches Pati (Śiva) with reverence, order, and sattvic intention, which aligns the mind for grace and liberation.
The verse describes practical steps of pūjā/abhisheka: cleansing and consecrating the ritual items and water offered to Śiva. In Saguna worship, such sanctified offerings become a disciplined means to focus devotion on the Linga as Śiva’s accessible form.
Prepare the worship items by cleansing and sprinkling, then use ‘śiva-jala’ (auspicious water for Śiva) and offer available sacred materials with sincerity—ideally while maintaining japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) as the inner accompaniment.
