It teaches that Shaiva practice begins with disciplined purity (śauca) under the guru’s guidance—outer cleansing supports inner readiness for Shiva‑worship, mantra, and the path toward liberation.
Before approaching the Saguna form of Shiva as the Linga, the disciple is trained in proper āchāra; such observances make worship orderly, reverent, and aligned with scriptural injunctions.
A guru-guided purification step: the prescribed dantapavana (traditional tooth-cleansing/chewing-stick rite) performed according to śāstra as part of preparatory conduct for further Shaiva rites and mantra practice.
