It teaches that even a simple rite becomes spiritually potent when joined with inner meditation on Śiva (Pati) and the purifying symbol of bhasma, directing the soul (paśu) toward Śiva through remembrance and sacred sound.
The act of applying bhasma and uttering ‘Śiva’ is a Saguna mode of worship—using tangible sacred substances and audible mantra—while the teacher’s inward meditation points to the subtler, inner presence of Śiva that the Linga also signifies.
A guru-centered rite combining bhasma (often associated with Tripuṇḍra), mental dhyāna on Śiva, and Shiva-nāma utterance/japa while blessing or sanctifying the child through touch.
