Tattva Level: pasha
It identifies subtle “bondage-causes” that condition the soul (paśu): limited knowing (vidyā), attachment that propels experience (rāga), time that limits and sequences life (kāla), and cosmic necessity that regulates outcomes (niyati). Recognizing these helps the seeker turn toward Pati (Śiva) for liberation beyond limitation.
Linga-worship centers the mind on Śiva as the transcendent Lord who is beyond time and limitation. By devotion to Saguna Śiva (with form) and contemplation of the Linga as the sign of the formless, one gradually loosens the grip of rāga, kāla, and niyati and moves toward Śiva’s grace.
A practical takeaway is japa of the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with steady meditation on Śiva as timeless (kālātīta), combined with simple disciplines that reduce attachment (rāga).
